The objective of this Conference is to bring together all stakeholders interested in volcanic landscapes including architects, engineers, geo-scientists, tourism professionals, educators, economists and other professionals as well as government and local authorities to discuss the means and agree on the ways to promote and protect the beauty and individual characteristics of volcanic natural resources in the framework of sustainable development.
Merging landscape and natural heritage protection with current development trends is always a challenge. The environmental, cultural, social as well as economic components of this transition are complex and unique since they can only be combined in selected areas at the global level.
The community must integrate sustainable development concepts, best-practices and stakeholder participation into the technical considerations, business strategies and performance goals that are associated with the development, monitoring and promotion of volcanic landscapes.
