Africa: Toward Improved Health & Health Facility Design

Designers, healthcare administrators and thought leaders from Africa, France, Belgium, and the United States will discuss health facility design and environmental health issues in Africa during the Fall 2015 Architecture-For-Health Lecture Series at the Texas A&M College of Architecture.

The lectures, open to the public, will take place on most Fridays during the fall 2015 semester at 11:30 a.m. in Langford C105.

“Africa is a complex and challenging continent with a tremendous need to develop community-oriented health facilities and improve environmental health,” said George J. Mann, lecture series coordinator and holder of the Ronald L. Skaggs, FAIA Endowed Professorship in Health Facilities Design.

The series is also coordinated by Zhipeng Lu, a lecturer in the Department of Architecture, with assistance from Macharia Waruingi, chief executive officer of the Ustawi Biomedical Research, Innovation and Industrial Centers of Africa, Inc.

This fall’s series, “Africa: Toward Improved Health & Health Facility Design,” is a collaborative effort between the College of Architecture, the Center for Health Systems & Design, Texas A&M University, the National Science Foundation-funded Center for Health Organization Transformation and the School of Public Health at Texas A&M Health Science Center.
