    This webinar will demonstrate how 21st Century Learning is taking place through case studies of new creative and invigorating learn work environments. These case studies are not hypothetical unachievable futuristic ideals, but rather recently designed and implemented environments that will transformed how today's leader's work and how tomorrow's leaders will learn.

    Speakers

    Steve Flanagan, AIA, LEED AP
    (Moderator) Working in this profession since 1985 Steve has work in every architectural role, from draftsman to Principal in charge.  Although his experience and exposure to the profession has been broad his focus and dedication over the last 20 years has been in the design and construction of educational environments.  In all Steve has been involved in over 100 educational projects across California.  
    Currently Steve manages LPA's Higher Education Market Segment where he oversees 40 plus professionals in four offices throughout California including architects, interior designers, engineers and landscape architects. His role as the Principal -in-Charge on every college and university project gives Steve keen insight on educational environment trends and philosophies.

    Kate Mraw, CID, LEED AP BD+C Since joining LPA in 2004 as an Interior Designer for the K-12 team, Kate's responsibilities include strategic programming and space planning for LPA's educational projects, detailed analysis of interior functional needs, development of District Standards, execution of the design through Construction Administration, and implementation of the modernization "Campus Enrichment" concept through examination of the program needs. Her dedication to the study and use of technology and sustainability in educational spaces provides for a more effective learning environment. Kate and her team bring continuity to a project through the implementation of the final design decisions for the interior finishes, casework and furniture/equipment into the construction documents. 

    Daniel W. Rentsch R.A. Dan has been with Belzberg Architects since 2003 and continues to serve a leadership role within the office. He earned his first Masters of Architecture from the University of Idaho in 2002 and his second Masters of Architecture from the University of California Los Angeles in 2008. Dan has taught at UCLA, University of Idaho, and Ferris State University. Additionally, he's served as a juror at UCLA, Ferris State University, Arizona State University. He's currently project manager for Kaplan Pavilion at City of Hope, Johnson Student Center at Occidental College, McKinnon Family Center for Global Affairs at Occidental College, Westwood Tenant Improvement, OHT Synagogue as well as Toronto Residence, Brentwood Residence, Sun Valley Residence, and City Bakery.

    Natalie Engels, IIDA, LEED AP Natalie Engels was instrumental in transforming the traditional high-tech workplace of earlier eras into the collaborative, modern spaces that the Valley is known for today. Engels joined Gensler as a designer during a time when tech companies that had withstood the dot-com crash realized that they had to bring more collaboration to their campus designs if they wanted to thrive. She redesigned the workplaces of some of the Valley's biggest tech campuses, including Intel, HP, Intuit, Dell, NetApp and VeriSign. During her 10 years as a designer in the technology sector at Gensler, Engels was named senior associate. Her impact on design in the tech sector was recently recognized in Content Magazine of San Jose's summer 2013 Invent issue.
    Engels is also president of the Northern California chapter of the International Interior Design Association, a professional networking and educational association that advocates interior design excellence.

    Dr. Lennie Scott-Webber Dr. Scott-Webber is the Director of Education Environments at Steelcase and is responsible for developing advanced learning environment solutions through research, design, development and sharing knowledge with multiple constituencies.  Her work has advance design resolutions that empower learning in higher education and corporate learning environments by using evidenced-based design methodologies and knowledge of how we learn.
