The AIA Large Firm Roundtable, AIA, and other industry groups sponsored this new research report just published by McGraw Hill Construction. It examines the causes and typical costs of imperfection in the design and construction process. The study included interviews with 155 owners, 82 architects, and 78 contractors following and input from seven respected owners representing Crate & Barrel, Disney, GSA, Hines, Sutter Health, the University of Chicago, and Whirlpool Corporation. The report is a valuable educational tool for architects and their clients. It's attached here and is also available without charge on aia.org (Affiliated and Eternal Research Resources page, Construction Market Research & Intelligence, in the Research Resource Center) or at McGraw Hill's "analyticsstore" website. We're interested in comments and suggestions for follow-on work related to this research project.. ------------------------------------------- Clark Davis FAIA Principal Consultant Cameron MacAllister Group Saint Louis MO -------------------------------------------
