Applications for the 2016 Summer Latino Heritage Internship Program (LHIP) with the Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS) and the Historic American Landscapes Survey (HALS) are due February 6, 2016.

Two LHIP positions, one ‪‎Architect‬ and one ‪‎Landscape Architect‬, will be available with Heritage Documentation Programs, NPS during the summer of 2016. The LHIPs will work in the Washington, District of Columbia office and will produce measured and interpretative drawings of historic buildings, sites and landscapes for the HABS/HAER/HALS Collection in The Library of Congress.

For a second year, the National Park Service has partnered with the Hispanic Access Foundation, a Latino-serving organization, to provide graduate and undergraduate students with internships to work alongside ‪NPS‬ staff on cultural resources projects in different park units, offices and historical sites throughout the nation. The internship is designed to engage the next generation of conservation stewards and will raise awareness of national parks and historic sites, their accessibility, and the need for the‪ Latino‬ community's involvement in their ‪preservation.

The summer internships will begin in late-May or early-June and selected individuals will be compensated with a weekly stipend, and housing and transportation costs will be fully covered.
