Top Ten comments overheard at the last AIA CAE Awards Jury Deliberations

Have you ever wondered what goes on in the awards jury process? With apologies to David letterman, here are the Top Ten comments overheard at the last AIA CAE Awards Jury Deliberations:

Number 10 - Design goals should be clearly reflected in the building design.

Number 9 - Students or community members integrated into the planning process really makes an impact.

Number 8 - The design should support the pedagogy.

Number 7 - There should be photographs of the classrooms or learning spaces.

Number 6 - Including people in the photographs strengthens the images.

Number 5 - Large gathering spaces need to be explained and well thought out.

Number 4 - Teacher workspaces accessible to students are a plus.

Number 3 - North arrows are needed on all plans, especially projects that emphasize sustainability.

Number 2 - A graphic scale helps when images are being viewed digitally.

And the Number 1 comment overheard at the last AIA CAE Awards Jury Deliberations: Does this project break any new ground?
