As the cherry blossoms return to Washington, we mark the debut of a new tool to keep you informed about what's happening in the world of legislative and political advocacy: The Angle.

Technically, it's an old tool in a new format: a little more than a decade ago, The Angle was a hard-copy newsletter mailed (remember mail?) to members. We're bringing it into the 21st Century, and making it easier for you to stay connected to the information you need to know about the policies and regulations that affect you and your practice.

Join the Legislative Action Network to receive the latest news from The Angle, or visit us on the AIA's Issues and Advocacy page. If you're not sure the Angle is right for you, here are ten (mostly) good reasons to read it:

  1.  You will find up-to-the-minute intel on what legislative and regulatory trends will affect you and your practice.

  2. Want to tell Congress to make sustainability a priority? Want to become engaged in your community? The Angle will give you the latest tools and tips on becoming a more powerful advocate.

  3. We promise never to have stories about cats on Roombas.

  4. It will help you see the 2016 election through the lens of architecture -  where candidates stand on issues that impact architecture and the built environment.

  5. It will make you smarter. Read the Angle and wow your friends and colleagues with your knowledge of politics and policy.

  6. The world is getting more complex: the Angle will help you sort through what you need to know about what's going on in Washington, state capitols and city hall.

  7. Reading the Angle will provide you with the recommended daily allowance of Omega-3.  (This statement has not been reviewed by the FDA)

  8. Expand your universe: You will hear from guest bloggers – public figures, advocacy experts, and others – that will grow your knowledge and help you see the big issues in a different light.
  9. You’ll know more than Ted, the annoying guy down the hall.

  10. Because when AIA members raises their voice together, we all win. The Angle will help you learn the issues, know how to take action and help give you the power to make positive change for you, and your firm, profession, community and country.
