AAJ Scholar Intro

Hello - My name is Amineh Warrayat, I am a recent graduate from Arizona State University's Architectural Graduate School of Design. Throughout my education design’s role in social justice was of great interest to me. I was granted the opportunity to take my interest into action through my involvement in AIAS’s nonprofit affiliation Freedom by Design. The program principles aim to provide inspiring designs to neglected communities. I continued to extend myself in projects and research that involved challenging design standards that would overlook particular demographics. It is what caused me to join a study abroad studio in Buenos Aires; a city that faces various political, economic and social issues that are reflected in its built environment. Currently I am working with HDR as an Architectural Project Coordinator, a firm that focuses on civic architecture. As a significant resource I have continuously been provided with opportunities of involvement. Even though I have completed my formal education, I remain to be a student and am very appreciative of the opportunity of being an AAJ Scholar.
