St. John’s On the Lake initiated a campus repositioning to respond to changing market demands. A master plan of the entire campus was completed assessing the existing independent living tower, assisted living facility, and skilled care along with the town center and supporting spaces. Their existing independent living apartments were deemed too small and they wished to open up their campus and integrate it with the surrounding community. Wellness and sustainability were underlying factors in the programming and design of the new campus components. The new 21-story, 87-unit tower energizes Milwaukee’s Prospect Avenue at the street level and offers an exciting new option in high-rise living for older adults. The project’s urban location puts dining, shopping, and activities within easy walking distance, so residents can stay connected to the community.
