DEFINITION (Plain English)

1. a person who acts as both product developer and consumer

2. those who create goods, services or experiences for their own use, rather than for sale or exchange. Individuals or groups which produce and consume their own output are "prosuming."

Perhaps there is more than one definition, but I would offer a slightly different version, based on my understanding of this word...
Essentially, the conjunction of "professional" and "consumer" (as opposed to "product" and "consumer", or "produce" and "consume")... i.e. a person who purchases commercial-grade ("professional") products/systems/equipment for use in non-commercial ("consumer") applications
