Bio
Laura Montllor, is an Architect, an age-in-place expert and a long-time advocate of inclusion and civil rights for people with disabilities. She is a founding member and the Executive Director of HomeFreeHome. HomeFreeHome is an all-volunteer group of architects who design accessible home renovation projects for people with disabilities and seniors. HomeFreeHome’s work has appeared in Exceptional Parent Magazine, Newsday and the Long Island Press. This year HomeFreeHome received a prestigious grant from the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation.
Laura was honored as one of the “Most Influential Women on Long Island” by the Long Island Press. For 25 years, Laura has been the principal of Montllor Box Architects in Port Washington, New York, a nationally publicized firm specializing in renovation of residences. Their work has been featured on various programs including HGTV’s Before and After Show and published in House Beautiful magazine.
In addition, she written articles for various AIA publications, trade magazines and is a contributor to Newsday on Long Island. She has served as Housing Educator for the New York Association on Independent Living.
Growing up in New York, she graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.
