Architectural Technical Director
Drake Wauters is an architectural technical director for the global buildings architecture and engineering practice at Jacobs Engineering Group in Arlington, Virginia. In practice since 1985 on over 25 million square feet of projects, he has been a technical resource, design discipline integrator, analyst, and risk control advisor on many teams through planning, design, and construction. He has also served as a consultant on building and construction related issues since 1991; worked within architecture, engineering, and construction firms; and spent over 10 years in firm leadership. His education included the architectural technology program of Montgomery College and the architectural program of Kansas State University. He is on several advisory boards and a member of numerous professional organizations. Projects have included many technically challenging new facilities and modernizations. These include major government, institutional, and corporate headquarters; state-of-the-art laboratories for three federal agencies and a major research university; data centers; communications facilities; clean room facilities; blast hardening; energy shielding; power generation complexes including an historic modernization and expansion project; command and control facilities; over a dozen new US complexes overseas; manufacturing and industrial facilities; justice facilities; a key multi-college sector of a new university city near the Arabian gulf; medical modernizations and expansions; special projects; as well as technical reviews, condition assessments, forensic solutions, value management support, and feasibility studies for a wide swath of clientele. Project delivery methods have included design-build, design-bid-build, design-assist, and construction manager led.
