Susan Harris Welker AIA  RID  LEED AP

Susan Welker, AIA, brings a passion for excellence to architecture and interior design in her work as Principal at Harris Welker Architects. Her background as an Registered Architect, Registered Interior Designer, Master Planner, Non-Profit Board Member, Community Volunteer and former Art Teacher provide her with diverse skills. Ms. Welker has been Principal/Project Architect on Federal, Institutional and Commercial projects. Her best skills are in design, strategizing, information assimilation, scheduling and listening.

Ms. Welker has been investing her time and talent to learn creative cost-effective design solutions that are positive to the environment, reduce energy and prevent harmful material exposure. On all projects, where available and within budget; recyclable, reclaimable and reusable building components and materials are specified.

Ms. Welker has a unique and in-depth understanding of the larger context in which design and construction takes place and works to educate the public about good architecture. She speaks regularly to her community on topics such as Universal Design, Green Building and Working with An Architect. In 2005, she founded and has taught to elementary school children the AIA Austin’s successful Architecture in Elementary schools program.

Previously, Susan worked in Houston, TX and Miami, FL for commercial and custom residential clients.
