CRAN members,
As many of you know, last fall I was awarded a scholarship through the AIA to attend the CRAN Symposium in Indianapolis. As a newer member of the profession, I often do not get the opportunity to attend various conferences and seminars so I was thrilled that I could attend last October. I simply am not a good enough writer to be able to convey everything I took home from the conference: knowledge, friendships, enthusiasm just to label a few.

I have been told that the AIA does not have the ability to offer Knowledge Community Scholarships again this year which I find unfortunate for my peers. As many of you know, younger members at firms do not usually get conferences and seminars paid for by their companies. And the cost of attending on our own can keep us from going.

I would like to strongly urge the entire CRAN group to offer a scholarship to attend the 2012 CRAN Symposium in Rhode Island. Although I currently work for a company who does not focus on the residential sector, I found the information at the last symposium to be invaluable to any one who is newer to architecture. Covering the registration and hotel costs would go far for an associate member who is, or would like to work with the residential sector.

This may be an item for the symposium committee to discuss, but for all members, please consider supporting the idea of a scholarship - I think you'll find it to be a great investment in our profession.

Thank you!
