This message has been cross posted to the following Discussion Forums: Regional and Urban Design Committee and Housing Knowledge Community . ------------------------------------------- Here is an interesting depiction of the distribution of green house gas emissions in the US. http://www.transportationissuesdaily.com/piechart-transportation-and-greenhouse-gas-emissions/ It is obvious to argue that much of the electricity generation component goes to buildings, but it presents a seemingly, more manageable task to isolate the building related elements and develop ways to reduce consumption. It is far harder to resolve the dominant urban form. We have to realize a large part of the light duty vehicles and freight contributions are resulting from the pattern of our development. Do we have any real sense of what kind of development is occurring when we hear reports of housing starts?
