2012 YAF/COD Ideas Competition: Deadline this Friday!

Registration/Submission Deadline: Friday, August 31, 2012

The AIA Young Architects Forum (YAF) and the AIA Committee on Design (COD) invite architects, interns, students, and allied design professionals (planners, landscape architects, contractors, interior designers, engineers, product representatives) to submit sketches to the international 2012 YAF/COD Ideas Competition.

In this unique design competition, submitters are asked to explore innovative design proposals for educating and encouraging Americans to live a healthier life. Obesity-related diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, chronic depression, and certain cancers are the biggest public health epidemics of our time. Physical inactivity and unhealthy diets are responsible for more premature deaths than anything except tobacco use.

IDP Firm Awards Program - Applications due September 24, 2012

The AIA/NCARB Intern Development Program Advisory Committee (IDPAC) is now accepting applications for the 2012- 2015 IDP Firm Awards Program! Encourage your firm to apply today!

Since 1991, the IDP Outstanding Firm Awards program has recognized firms who actively embrace the NCARB Intern Development Program (IDP) and demonstrate a commitment to interns by making the path to licensure an integral part of the firm's culture. In 2008, the program expanded to recognize "IDP Firms" that meet twelve essential criteria in the categories of Mentoring, Supervising, Training Opportunities, Commitment to IDP, and ARE Support. The IDP Outstanding Firm Award is reserved for firms who meet these essential criteria with excellence in these categories as well as demonstrate an "innovative" effort or outstanding practice in their efforts with the Intern Development Program.

The 2012 applications are available now at www.aia.org/IDPFirmAward.

Application Deadline: September 24, 2012

AIA Public Policies & Position Statements - Emerging Professionals Focus

Public Policies are AIA statements of belief to policy-makers, the public, and the construction industry on issues of public policy affecting the membership, the profession of architecture, or The American Institute of Architects.

Position Statements elaborate on Public Policies or apply them to specific conditions or events.

Check out the AIA Directory of Public Policies and Position Statements to see how the institute is focused to support emerging professionals, including young architects.
