Volunteer Today!

Currently, we have a Program Committee who's job is to develop programs for AIA National Convention.  This year our committee was successful in having three sessions approved providing opportunities to learn more about our retail and entertainment profession.  The first is Thursday, June 20, 2013 at 4:00 pm titled:  Retail Design around the World: Challenges and Guidelines for American Architects (TH306) followed by an AIA Retail Entertainment Knowledge Community Networking Reception (EV213) at 6:30 pm that evening.  The second session is on Friday, June 21, 2013 at 2:00 pm titled:  Experiential Architecture: Beyond the Box (FR209) with the last one being a panel discussion on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 7:30 am:  Sustainability in Retail Architecture (SA214).  We are starting planning now for the 2014 convention in Chicago so there are opportunities to have a positive impact on that Convention as well as hosting a "behind the Scenes" in either New York City or Los Angeles to explore how a retail or entertainment project can energize adjacent development.

We also have a Design Awards Committee working with Retail Traffic Magazine and their SADI awards program, to expand and 'raise the bar' on their design awards program and future direction for REC's design awards.

If you are interested in committing a few hours a month for conference call and some time to think about and act on ways to improve AIA retail and entertainment architects' knowledge base, we would welcome your commitment.

Contact rec@aia.org if you are interested in volunteering.
