The AIA and AIA Utah are hosting an afternoon training session on February 21, 2014 to help you and your firm take advantage of the numerous architectural opportunities in thriving and emerging overseas markets. Working Abroad - Pros, Cons, & Ways Forward will provide you with first-hand knowledge of the ins and outs of working in foreign countries. India offers a myriad of opportunities to expand your business portfolio, and it serves as a good case study for any international work. The event will be hosted from 1pm-3pm at the Utah State Capitol in the Spruce Room of East Senate Building, 350 North State Street, Salt Lake City, UT 84114.

This training session will assist firms and members by connecting them with members who have done work internationally, the U.S. Department of Commerce, and other federal government agencies.

Attendees will learn about business opportunities that are available in India and other international markets, resources provided by the Federal government, and how to best use those resources. Problems that can occur while working abroad, how business practices differ from the United States, and how to comply with foreign laws will also be topics of discussion.

Prior to the Working Abroad - Pros, Cons, and Ways Forward panel, AIA Utah will be hosting their 2014 Utah Legislative Day.

    Speakers include:

      • Michael Lee, President, MLD Worldwide / Experience Industries

      • David Fiscus, Director, U.S. & Foreign Commercial Service's Utah U.S. Export Assistance Center

      • Terri Batch, Senior International Trade Specialist, U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. Commercial Service in West Los Angeles, California
