Pathways to Involvement
Many of you have asked how to become more involved in the Interfaith Forum on Religion, Art and Architecture. In addition to attending our conferences and tours, we hope you'll join us in making IFRAA a learning community that's increasingly your first-stop reference for best practices in religious and spiritual architecture. This is a great way to get to know colleagues from around the country and share insights and resources in a noncompetitive environment. Below you'll find some of the pathways for further involvement.
If you are interested in joining any of these committees, please contact ifraa@aia.org.
Conference Planning Committees
If you enjoy staying updated on cultural trends as well as exemplary worship environments, then perhaps you'd enjoy sharing those insights by helping us design meaningful conference programs. Based on the theme established by the Leadership Group, the committee selects, organizes, and facilitates the program, including keynotes, seminars, site tours, entertainment, and other activities. Our plans for New Orleans are set. We now look to Washington DC for the 2012 National Convention. Any ideas for that location?
Communications Committee
Keep members informed about IFRAA activities, events, and resources through development of high-quality content for our Web site and quarterly journal. IFRAA also helps to develop content for Faith & Form magazine's annual education issue. If you have ideas about significant events, useful resources, or exemplary projects, our members should know about, the Communications Committee is the perfect fit for you. How about working on our website or our periodic eJournal?
Membership Committee
Represent each region of the country and serve as a liaison to members in other regions. Help us stay in touch with the membership, ensuring that we address their needs. Help recruit non-architect members to enrich the IFRAA knowledge base. If you are interested in representing your region or are already involved in a local or state group and would like to help us stay in touch, this is a great opportunity for you. Do you know of organizations or journals that specialize in religious art and architecture? Let us know.
Sponsorship Committee
In addition to our conferences and study tours, IFRAA is responsible for supporting sponsorships for the annual Faith & Form magazine educational issue. Members of the Sponsorship Subcommittee will help us expand the financial resources available to IFRAA by identifying contacts for potential sponsorships and in-kind contributions. We would like to reach out to vendors, studios, artists and architectural firms specializing in religious art and architecture.
