Bio

Architect with broad base of professional experience including master-planning and design of commercial and corporate office parks and buildings, restoration and rehabilitation of historic buildings and adaptive reuse. Throughout career, has continued education area of sustainable design. Undergraduate engineering coursework has provided a deeper understanding of technical relationships between buildings and their structural, mechanical and electrical systems. Current projects: campus master-plan for Siemens Medical Solutions which includes a USGBC LEED Gold corporate office building, cafe building, 600 space parking structure and pedestrian walkway system for the campus; rehabilition and adaptive reuse of 4 buildings at the Charlotte Hawkins Brown historic site; and design of historically appropriate carousel houses and other support buildings at two city parks. Jim is also an artist/craftsman, working in thrown and handbuilt clay, forged and fabricated fine and black metal and wood. He volunteers with the ManKind Project and is a Leader-in-Training for their New Warrior Training Adventure weekend.
