Bio

Katherine Austin is a sole proprietor in Northern California specializing in Green Affordable Housing & Production Homes. She is currently serving on the National AIA Board Knowledge Committee representing Knowledge Communities. She is past chair of Residential Knowledge Community’s Advisory Group. Katherine is cureently VP/President Elect for 2011 of the Redwood Empire Chapter of AIA in Northern California.

During her career in Sonoma County Ms. Austin served 4 years as a Sebastopol Planning Commissioner, 4 years as City Council member, one as Mayor, as well as 4 years on Sonoma County’s Agricultural Preservation & Open Space District with one year as Chair. She is a strong believer in proactive civic involvement by architects (Citizen Architects) to help improve their communities. Katherine has lectured nationally on Green Housing and is a member of the USGBC.
