Wow!  I'm SO excited that our discussion group includes more than just me!

Just to give you a little background, I lead my own small architectural firm in Atlanta providing programming, design and LEED services for small municipal, cultural and residential projects.   After getting jazzed by my experience as chair of the AIA Atlanta K-12 programs from '09 to '11, I co-founded in '10 and now direct an AIA Atlanta after-school program with my children's elementary school art teacher for the chapter in that is slowly growing with the support of wonderful architects and design professionals.  Attached is a picture of me and that teacher with the class at one of our five schools.

Are you involved with K-12 programs for your AIA chapter or community organizations?  How are these challenging times affecting your ability to participate in or recruit for K-12 program and events?  Do some people think you're crazy to be passionate about engaging young people about architecture considering the tough climate for architects?

Feel free to share your pics from your K-12 initiatives.

Roger,

Thanks for the e-mail and images from your crit!

Your high school students are fortunate to receive such a practical and interesting exercise about land planning and architecture.

How long do you work with the class during a semester?  Do you receive any assistance from other volunteer architects?

Melody
