Bio
Michael Ayles, AIA, NCARB, is the Principal of Business Development at Antinozzi Associates in Bridgeport, Connecticut, a mid-sized architecture and interior design firm specializing in institutional and commercial facilities. He received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from Roger Williams University in 1991 and received his architectural license and NCARB Certification in 1996.
Since the mid-1990’s, Mike has had an active voice in local, regional and national leadership with the AIA. From 1998 - 2004, Mike’s passion for the profession was dedicated to the AIA Young Architects Forum as a Regional Liaison, Advisory Committee member, and Chair in 2004. During this time, he moderated several National Associates Committee (NAC) and YAF-sponsored programs at AIA National Conventions and the Grassroots Conference regarding topics on IDP programs, intern initiatives, developing emerging architects, and balancing work and personal life. In addition, Mike participated in the 2002 and 2005 Internship Conferences and was the IDP Coordinator Representative on the 2005 Internship Conference Advisory Committee. He remains highly involved with interns and emerging architects as the IDP State Coordinator for Connecticut
After his YAF leadership, Mike was integral in forming the AIA Committee on Leadership Education (CLE), serving as Advisory Group Chair in 2008. His involvement with the CLE, created to promote leadership education opportunities for architects around the country, stemmed from his participation in the 2003 AIA/Georgetown Leadership Institute. He currently serves on the Center for Civic Leadership as 2012 Chair.
Beyond the AIA, Mike is on the ACE Mentor Program of Connecticut Board of Directors and served on the Board of Managers of his local YMCA branch from 2002 - 2012. In his hometown of historic Guilford, CT, he was appointed to (and chaired) its Standing Building Committee and Historic District Commission, and participated on the Town Center South Planning Committee. In 2007, Mike was elected to the town's Board of Finance and was just recently re-elected (2011) to serve for a second four-year term.
