Bio
Professionally, Charlie was a licensed architect for twenty years designing a variety of healthcare projects such as nursing homes and Alzheimers facilities. In the past ten years, Charlie has been the Operations Manager with Cooke’s Gardens responsible for design/build landscape projects, horticultural therapy at home and employing individuals with intellectual disabilities to match their skill sets within the landscape industry.
Charlie has been a long distance caregiver for his dad, mom and aunt in New York for the past five years. Since his mom and aunt passed last year, Charlie still continues with monthly week long visits to care for his dad. Before family caregiving, Charlie devoted over twenty years to help others as a member of the volunteer fire/rescue squads and six years in the US Coast Guard.
This lifelong ambition of caring for others has prompted Charlie to pursue a Masters in Gerontology at Virginia Commonwealth University. (May 2013)
