Bio

Registered architect for 40 years, licensed to practice in the Commonwealths of Pennsylvania & Virginia. Architectural Expert & Consultant and Principal of Lynch & Associates, Architects, in continuous operation since 1982.

1991 awarded PSA Medal of Distinction, gold medal & highest honor of Pennsylvania Society of Architects.

1996 elected to College of Fellows of American Institute of Architects (AIA).

1990 participated in refinement & enactment of Americans with Disabilities Act, testifying before Congress and working with congressional staff on behalf of AIA.

1984 – 1988, worked for Pennsylvania Senator James Rhodes to write and testify before PA Legislature for enactment of Universal Accessibility Law. Appointed by PA Secretary, Department of Labor & Industry as founding member of Universal Accessibility Review Board for 4 year term.

1992 commissioned by Architect of the Capitol to undertake computerized ADA survey of United States Capitol Building.

Designed home accessibility modifications for over 165 private homes & 20 multi-family residential facilities.

Member of faculty of University of Pittsburgh’s School of Health & Rehabilitation Sciences for 12 years, taught courses in architectural design & construction to rehabilitation professionals.

Since 1988 served as member of American National Standards Institute Committee on Accessible & Usable Buildings & Facilities, contributing to creation of 1992, 1996, 1998, 2003 & 2009 Editions of ANSI A117.1 Standard for Accessible & Usable Buildings & Facilities.

Researcher at University of Pittsburgh to test, via virtual reality software, the effectiveness of a remote accessibility assessment system (RAAS) in evaluating the wheelchair accessibility of several residences.

Professional Member, International Code Council.

Member, American Institute of Architects, 38 years.

Associate Member, American Academy of Forensic Sciences, 2009.
