Richard, in regard to your question, I will venture to say it is a little of both...it's about both the profession and the organization...since the organization is really meant to support the profession. We cannot say what the end result will be yet...like true architects, we are trying to define the problem before we assume a solution. We are performing very thorough qualitative and quanitiative research among member architects, non-member architects, associates, students, component staff, thought leaders and even the public at large, to identify what the landscape of perceptions, needs, attitudes and beliefs are today. Our hypothesis is that there are, for lack of a better word, "disconnects" between these audiences that may need to somehow be addressed for the profession to more fully thrive in the rapidly changing future. How we develop strategies and concepts to address these gaps will begin in the next phase...the "so what" phase, that will likely begin this summer. Stay tuned and keep participating as we go...it will be interesting! ------------------------------------------- Kyle McAdams AIA Managing Director, Marketing and Business Development The American Institute of Architects Washington DC -------------------------------------------

Ok - we now have 5 members on this - Kyle - What is the Institute actually looking to as far as results? Will we as members have an effect on the way AIA exists as an organization or is this an effort to redefine the profession or both? ------------------------------------------- Richard Logan AIA MPA Architects, Inc.
