Hi Kyle, I appreciate your and the AIA Repositioning Team's efforts toward reinventing the AIA... In response to your question (eg What one thing would you change about the architecture profession), I would like to see it become more of a profession and business, craft and less of a nebulous guessing game that only the young can now play-- or only the elitist of the elites can maintain. One step that I'd like to see implemented immediately is to connect the AIA website to the real estate websites. This could be done by creating a niche spot for residential architects on the main www.aia.org site and then market to the major residential real estate entities to find out how to establish direct links to the AIA site. This could be seen Asa public awareness imitative under several canopies such as ' Implementing Energy Star in your Home' to 'remodeling your home via a licensed expert'.... These are a few brainstorm ideas I thought to share. I've not vetted them....so take them with that in mind. Thanks for the opportunity to share on this forum. Kind regards, Tara ------------------------------------------- Tara Imani AIA Principal Tara Imani Designs, LLC Houston TX -------------------------------------------

As part of this multi-pronged effort, we are seeking input and dialogue in multiple forums...you probably saw the AIArchitect issue that came out today with comments from Robert Ivy and Jeff Potter regarding this year-long undertaking. You should both try to take the survey coming out next week to provide input in that forum as well as this one. Over the following weeks and months, I , or my colleague Phil Simon, Managing Director of Communications here at AIA National, will post questions to prompt discussion...many of these will be questions we were simply not able to add to the survey or other forums. And as we move through all of the phases of this initiative, we may also ask for feedback and reactions to other concepts or creative treatments. We appreciate your participation and please feel free to invite others. My first question: What ONE thing would you change aboout the profession of Architecture? ------------------------------------------- Kyle McAdams AIA Managing Director, Marketing and Business Development The American Institute of Architects Washington DC -------------------------------------------
