I urge every architect who has experienced a reduction in workload to respond to Bijana Kaumaya's request for information about Stalled Projects.

None of my projects that have been stalled fell into any federal niche.  So what?  Share your experiences with her, so that she can pass that along to the government.  I prepared a "To Whom It May Concern" memo and cited at least 10 projects a year of mine that have been stalled, based on my previous 2003-2009 workload.  I discussed the trickle down effect that I could possibly employ 2 to 3 other architects and other professionals if I had that workload restored.

I mentioned that each of my projects had a general contractor who in turn had about 55 subcontractors per home built, and that each of these subs had perhaps 4 staff members who directly earned a wage working on the project.  4 x 55 = 220 people per project x 10 projects = 2,200 people who are not earning a wage from my projects because they are not being built, because the owners cannot obtain financing due to overly tight loan backlash these days.

Please share your experiences with the AIA by responding to Bijana's request for your experiences.  Be as specific as you can.  Do some math for the AIA, so that they can take a big fistful of our memos to the government and say: "help us get money into the hands of people that want to build new homes."

Here's your chance.  Don't just complain.  Give the AIA the information they need about your stalled projects to help them help us.
