Just want to give an invite for all to attend the 15th Annual US ICOMOS Conference in San Antonio, Texas
Thursday, May 31 to Saturday, June 2, 2012

World Heritage in the Americas:  Confluence of Cultures

The year 2012 will be the 40th anniversary of UNESCO's World Heritage Convention, and we wish to celebrate this event with ICOMOS colleagues from all the Americas, with the intent to launch a permanent process of regional cooperation that will ensure greater participation and contributions to the spirit and the aims of the Convention.

The Symposium will be an opportunity to celebrate the cultural heritage of Texas.  In particular, attention will be brought to the five San Antonio Missions, including The Alamo.  Collectively, the San Antonio Missions have "outstanding universal value" as defined by the guidelines for the World Heritage Sites.  A World Heritage nomination has been written for the Missions, now on the US "tentative list" for consideration.
